In 2003 we became partners with a San Francisco School in need of new class- rooms (including an ESL classroom), additional restrooms, a computer room, new lighting, and air-conditioning. With our purchase of additional land, we were able to establish a micro- farm, complete with storage facilities and acreage to plant crops. Under the outstanding leadership of the school’s principal, Eulin Chacon, the micro-farm feeds 184 students breakfast, lunch, and sometimes dinner. The school, impacts the entire community, providing surplus food supply and lifelong lessons in sustainable agriculture. “It’s a dream come true,” Eulin tells us. “It’s the best legacy for future generations.” The micro-farm, fully equipped to sustain the community for generations to come, establishing a precedent for success in a society that relies heavily on agriculture.
